Overcome OGIM Syndrome with a BIG Breakthrough

Breakthrough

There is an epidemic emerging. It targets high achieving, results-driven individuals seeking freedom, flexibility, and financial abundance by stalling their advancement and threatening their success.

The symptoms are many, and can strike at any time. Typically, sufferers don’t see it coming. The disease can incubate for months, even years, before exposing itself in devastating and debilitating fashion. It’s called “Oh God It’s Monday” Syndrome.

OGIM, as it is most commonly referred, begins as a conscious effort to follow the advice and path of other successful individuals that ends up at a bleak destination molded by outside influences rather than internal motivation.

OGIM affects not only your professional performance and advancement, but also other significant areas of your life: personal relationships, health, wellness, finances, and social life. At it’s worst, OGIM can hijack your entire life stealing joy and happiness right out from underneath you.

You may be asking yourself, “What happened? How in the world did I get here? This isn’t what I wanted or expected.”

Listen up – YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Perhaps you listened to your peers and well-meaning mentors to chart your path. Each step did bring a form of success, but not fulfillment. Even with the financial benefits, you know deep down where you are now is not where you want to be....

Passion Drives Success

Passion and Desire

Ever had one of those days….maybe weeks or months….where you just felt stuck? Frustrated at the lack of progress in your business. You try all sorts of things to gain traction only to end up spinning your wheels. And you keep trying. Nothing seems to work. Sure, you get new leads, but landing new clients just isn’t happening. At least not on the timeframe you want.  Your passion starts to wane.

I must admit. I’ve been feeling that way recently.

New campaigns. Different topics. Pilot programs. More networking and connecting. Speaking to different audiences. Doing all these great things to promote my services, but somehow struggling to get traction. Or should I say, struggling to achieve the results I want.

Entrepreneurship is hard. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. The benefits are amazing, but there is serious work to be done. There are no overnight success stories. No “get rich quick” schemes. And certainly no online businesses that generate 6-figures with no sweat equity regardless of what the “experts” or “gurus” tell you.

Building a successful business from scratch takes time, effort, passion, and determination.

That is the reality. But we so often try to compare ourselves to others to measure our progress....

Release What Is Holding You Back

Release What's Holding you back

Did you happen to catch the “Strawberry Moon” Monday night? Not only did we celebrate the Summer Solstice, but we also were witness to a full moon. It’s such a rare occurrence – the last time was 70 years ago!

Now, I’m not completely “woo-woo”, but you cannot deny the powerful energy of Monday night. I took full advantage of the longest day of the year to have a fire outside and absorb the serene sunset and magnificent full moon.

There is something about fires that I really love. Perhaps that’s why I really enjoy camping. I don’t need an excuse to have a fire in the morning, the afternoon, AND the evening. The crackling wood, the smoky smell, and the jumping flames mesmerize me. Relaxing by a fire helps me to unwind, let go of the thoughts running rampant through my mind, and instead get caught up in a mystery.

With the power of the full moon and summer solstice, I decided that it was a perfect night to “let go” of some things. I mean, why not? When you have that much universal energy supporting you, it felt like a perfect time to throw a few things into the fire....

Owning Your Worth

Money falling on a business woman

When someone asks you what are you worth, how do you answer?

If you are like most, the first thought that comes to mind is around your current salary, revenue projection, or perhaps the amount of money you hold in savings and investments. The financial aspect of “worth” is important and fundamental in how we perceive the value of our work. However, there is another aspect of worth that is actually more important than the financial data – your own BELIEF of what you are worth.

We tend to underestimate the value of our worth, and, in the process, overcompensate to make up the difference.

How many times have you found yourself taking on more responsibility, putting forth more effort than your counterparts, or over preparing for a meeting or presentation? I’ve done it myself. You overcompensate to avoid the judgment of others that expect you to perform or live up to a certain ideal.

How can you combat this tempting ploy?

By knowing and living your deepest values, developing clarity on your purpose, and maintaining a strong, powerful belief in yourself.

Identifying your values allows you to turn the focus internally to gain clarity of purpose. When your values are compromised, your performance will be affected....

5 Ways to Build Inner Strength

The only constant in life is change. Change is everywhere. We experience change in needs, expectations, careers, economics, business, time demand, and so much more. Today, the security we seek from the various aspects of our lives is no longer guaranteed on any level. To create an effective personal system for thriving in our ever-changing world, you need to become your authentic self – armed with inner strength.

Inner strength helps you to get back up when you’ve been knocked down. Empowering yourself to dust off your pants and step back into the ring. It is about resilience and confidence. A person with inner strength has the mental and emotional skills to confront the challenges life brings. We all have the muscles to do this. We simply need to develop these muscles to respond rather than react to life’s challenges.

It is inspiring to know that you really can do something to increase your inner strength. Since part of survival is the acceptance that you cannot change circumstances or other people, it is critical to accept and feel empowered to transform yourself from the inside out. Here’s a few ways to help you exercise this muscle:

1.  Develop a keen sense of awareness....

Push Beyond Your Fears

We all experience fear at some point in our lives – it’s part of being human. No matter how paralyzing or overwhelming your fear makes you feel, there is a way past it. While you will never completely eliminate fear from your world, you can definitely get to the point where your fear does not stop you from daring to dream, think new thoughts, and create your future.

Pushing past your fears, especially your inner obstacles, is one of the focal points I work on with clients. There is a reason that “F” in F.A.S.T. Women in Business stands for “Fearless.” It is only when you can push past the self-created boundaries in your mind that you can stand in your strength and possess the courage to move forward.

What does it mean to be Fearless? Webster’s Dictionary defines “Fearless” as brave; free from fear. Related words include bold, courageous, gutsy, daring and valiant. In my world, it means you get back up when someone knocks you down. You take calculated risks, fail some times, and then try again and again. The more comfortable you are falling down, the less worried and judgmental you are of yourself. This repeated action of dusting yourself off and trying again helps you to break through the walls surrounding your comfort zone....

5 Key Awakenings – Part 2

Last time we started investigating the 5 Key Awakenings that successful career women have. These awakenings create a shift in how you approach your work and your life in a significant way. If you recall, last time we revealed #5: Successful women create structure to their day.  Today let’s dive into #4:

Awakening #4: Successful women release the past.

Last year the Disney hit film “Frozen” captivated audiences with the tale of a fearless princess who sets off on an epic journey to find her estranged sister.  It’s a story inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale “The Snow Queen”.  In the movie, the ostracized Queen Elsa, eventually realizes that she no longer needs to hide her abilities to create snow and ice, and rejoices by belting out the famous song “Let It Go.”

The song itself is a celebration for Queen Elsa.  She is able to release the assumptions and interpretations from her past that her magical abilities were only destructive.  Instead, she embraces her unique powers without fear, without limits, to let it go and create a living snowman and a magnificent ice castle.  Life changes as she releases the past disappointments and fears.  Not only that – the film and song started a wider public conversation on releasing perfectionism and the fears that hold women back....
